Quick answers about adoption, fostering, volunteering, donations, and how we work.

    About Us

    Who is Feeding Perris Strays?
Feeding Perris Strays is a volunteer-led community in Perris, California. With more than 10 volunteers and trusted rescue partners, we support 100+ animals through consistent feeding routes, rescue coordination, and access to medical and spay/neuter resources.
    What area do you serve?
We primarily serve Perris and surrounding areas. If you're outside the area, contact us and we'll do our best to connect you with local resources.
Are you a nonprofit, and are donations tax-deductible?
We're transitioning into a nonprofit organization so this work can continue in a sustainable, structured, and compassionate way. At this time, we are not yet a 501(c)(3), so contributions are currently not tax-deductible.

    Rescue & Support

What do you do (besides feeding)?
Feeding is only one part of the work. We also coordinate rescue support with established partners, help with humane trapping when needed (through experienced partners), support spay/neuter efforts, and connect animals to foster homes, medical care, and reputable rescues whenever possible.
Do you have a shelter or facility?
No. We're a volunteer-led, foster-and-partner-based effort. We do not operate a shelter, and we can't intake animals on demand.
Can you take in an animal I found?
Sometimes—but only if we can do it safely and responsibly. Most rescues require a foster plan and rescue partner coordination. If you found an animal, contact us with the location (cross streets), clear photos or video, behavior notes, and any immediate safety concerns.
What should I do if an animal is injured or in immediate danger?
If an animal is injured, trapped, hit by a car, or in immediate danger, contact local animal control or emergency services first. After that, message us—if we're able to, we'll help coordinate support and next steps.
Why can't you rescue every animal you see?
Safe rescue takes more than good intentions—it requires foster homes, rescue partnerships, medical care, and sometimes humane trapping. Taking on more than we can responsibly support can put animals and volunteers at risk, so we prioritize cases where we can act safely and sustainably.
How do you decide which animals to help first?
We prioritize urgent need and safety, including injury or immediate danger, pregnant animals and young at high risk, animals we've been tracking on our routes, and cases where a foster or rescue partner is available.
    Do you provide spay/neuter support?
Yes. We actively support spay/neuter efforts because it's one of the most effective ways to prevent suffering. When resources and scheduling allow, we also coordinate outreach for animals living in homeless encampments. Upcoming dates are posted on our News & Events page.

    Get Involved

What's the best way to help right now?
Donating supplies, contributing via Donate, volunteering, and sharing our posts all make a big impact. If you can foster, that's one of the biggest ways you can help us say "yes" when a pet needs urgent placement.
    How can I volunteer?
We welcome volunteers with different schedules and comfort levels. Visit our Volunteer page or email info@feedingperrisstrays.org to get started.
Do I need experience to volunteer?
No. We provide guidance and prioritize safety. We'll match you with a role that fits your comfort level and availability.
    How can I foster?
Fostering is one of the most impactful ways to help. Apply on our Foster page, and we'll follow up about fit, timing, and support.
How can I adopt a pet?
Start on our Adoption page. Our team reviews applications and follows up if there's a potential match.
    Is there an adoption fee?
Yes. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs and $150 for cats. These fees help offset the cost of vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, medical care, and rescue coordination.
    What's included with an adoption?
Adopted pets come vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered (or with a scheduled spay/neuter appointment if under 6 months of age). Vaccine records and microchip information are provided to the adopter at the time of placement.
What is an Adoption Agreement with 2 Week Trial?
An Adoption Agreement with 2 Week Trial is a 14-day trial placement. The pet comes home with you, and if everything works out, the agreement automatically converts to a full adoption on day 15. If it's not the right fit—for any reason—you can return the pet within the trial period and receive a full refund. It's a helpful option if you want to make sure the match is right before committing.
What if I can no longer care for my adopted pet?
Please contact us as soon as you know—don't surrender to a shelter or rehome on your own. Our adoption agreement requires that pets be returned directly to Feeding Perris Strays. We ask for a minimum of two weeks notice so we can arrange a safe transition. The pet's wellbeing is our first priority, and we'll work with you to find the best path forward.

    Donations

What donation methods do you accept?

    How are donations used?
Donations help cover food and supplies, urgent medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter support, and rescue coordination needs (including humane trapping support through experienced partners).
    What supplies are most helpful?
Common high-need items include pet food (dry dog and cat food), leashes and slip leads, crates and carriers, basic supplies, and cleaning items. Our Donate page includes a wish list for current needs.
